2023 Election Logistics: Reaction As Tinubu Loyalist, MC Oluomo Writes INEC To Allow Him Transport Election Materials – Eagle’s Sight News
The Lagos State Parks Management Committee (LSPMC) led by Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo has written to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to allow it to distribute sensitive electoral materials and transport election officials on Election Day.
The request is contained in a letter the Parks Management Committee wrote to INEC dated January 12 2023 and recieved by INEC on January 16, 2023, which states that the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW is suspended in Lagos state and that INEC should disregard any relationship with the union.
The letter also notified INEC that states such as Oyo, Ogun, Ondo and Osun are also no longer under the NURTW, but under the respective state parks and garages association.
The LSPMC says the notification and request letter to INEC has become imperative to avoid technical, logistics and deployment challenges that could affect elections in the aforementioned states associations.
In October 2018, in an Instagram post, the Managing director of LSPMC, MC Oluomo described himself as a loyalist of Bola Tinubu, the 2023 presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
According to MC Oluomo, Tinubu owns him and whatever he wants will be supported.
He wrote, “I am an Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Jagaban loyalist, I wear the Jagaban jersey, I’ve been a loyalist since 1999, the first Mecca i went is through his excellency in the year 2000, moreso, he has done a lot for me, he made me who i am today our relationship has been very cordial and strong in the area that I grew up in…”
Meanwhile, reacting to this development, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar had warned INEC against using the Lagos State Parks Management Committee led by MC Oluomo for logistics during the February polls. Aits News recalls.
This was contained in a press release by Atiku’s Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu.
Shaibu noted that Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had banned the NURTW because the union’s national leadership had suspended MC Oluomo for abuse of office.
Shaibu suggested to INEC not to make use of the parks committee, rather, it should reach out to the leadership of the NURTW and or engage the services of any logistic company for the purpose of distributing sensitive electoral materials in Lagos.
