BREAKING: Strike Called Off, But Did Labour Sell Out?

BREAKING: Labour Calls Off Strike After FG Intervention
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have suspended their industrial action after only one day, following the Federal Government’s proposed N60,000 minimum wage offer.
According to TUC President Festus Osifo, the decision to call off the strike came after a late-night meeting between labour leaders and the Federal Government, which resulted in an increased offer from the initial proposed N60,000.

The labour unions had originally proposed a minimum wage of N615,500, citing the high cost of living, but the Federal Government rejected this and offered N48,000, which was subsequently increased to N54,000 and then N60,000, all of which were rejected by the labour unions.
The strike, which began on Tuesday, has now been called off, and negotiations are expected to continue to reach a mutually acceptable minimum wage.
