Breaking : Nigerian Lawmaker Ekene Abubakar Adams Dies at 39

Tragedy has struck the Nigerian political scene as Ekene Abubakar Adams, a member of the House of Representatives, passed away on Tuesday morning at the age of 39.

Adams, who represented the Chikun/Kajuru federal constituency of Kaduna state under the Labour Party (LP), was a prominent figure in the country’s sports scene, having served as the general manager of Kada City Football Club and Remo Stars before his election to the House in 2023.

According to Akin Rotimi, spokesperson for the House, Adams was a “dedicated public servant, passionate sports administrator, and kind philanthropist” who was loved by all who knew him. Rotimi described Adams as a “kind and gentle humanitarian” whose dedication to grassroots sports development in Nigeria was “unwavering”.

Adams’ passing marks the third death in the lower legislative chamber this year, following the recent demise of Olaide Adewale Akinremi and Isa Dogonyaro in May. His contributions to the House will be deeply missed.

The late lawmaker was the chairman of the House Committee on Sports until his untimely death. His legacy in the world of sports and politics will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
