COMFORTER MOURNS ISLAMIC CLERIC, SHEIKH MUYIDEEN BELLO*
The Islamic world was thrown into mourning earlier on Friday 6th of December, 2024 when news pilfered in that the respected Islamic Leader and Cleric, Sheikh Muyideen Ajani Bello died at the age of 84.
Since the news of his passing, tributes have been trooping in, in numbers to pay last respect to the One called “Oniwasi Agbaye”.
The Lawmaker representing Ibadan North Constituency 1 at the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Dr. Olufunke Comforter Adeniyi-Olajide has written a glowing tribute to celebrate the life of the late Sheikh and it read below:
“Today, we mourn the loss of a legendary Islamic scholar, Sheikh Muyideen Ajani Bello, affectionately known as “Oniwasi Agbaye,” who passed away at the ripe age of 84. As an Ibadan indigene, I’m deeply saddened by the loss of this iconic figure, who not only inspired our community but also left an indelible mark on the global Islamic landscape.
“Sheikh Bello’s remarkable life was a testament to his unwavering dedication to his faith and his unrelenting passion for spreading knowledge. Born and raised in Ibadan, we learnt that he began his Islamic education at a tender age, following in the footsteps of his father, a respected Islamic scholar in his own right. His academic prowess and thirst for knowledge led him to pursue further studies in various institutions, including the renowned Ansa-ru-deen College in Sakí, Oyo State.
“Throughout his illustrious career, Sheikh Bello earned numerous accolades and recognition for his outstanding contributions to Islamic scholarship. His wisdom, compassion, and generosity inspired countless individuals, and his legacy will continue to be felt for generations to come. As we bid farewell to this extraordinary individual, we take comfort in the knowledge that his remarkable life’s work will endure, a shining testament to his devotion to his faith and his community.
“To crown it all, Baba transited on a Friday which is the perfect day to meet with one’s creator, as a Muslim. May Allah grant Sheikh Muyideen Ajani Bello Al-Jannah Firdaus, and may his family and loved ones find solace in the knowledge that his remarkable legacy will continue to inspire and uplift us all.”
