BREAKING: At Last, ASUU Calls Off 8month Old Strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities has suspended its eight month old strike, The PUNCH has reportedly confirmed.

Though the union is yet to make an official pronouncement, it was gathered that the decision was taken at the end of the National Executive Council meeting which was held at the ASUU secretariat in Abuja.

The suspension of the 8 month old strike was however, to enable ASUU determine its next line of action after the ruling by the Court of Appeal which ordered the academic staff union to return to classroom.

Confirming the development to The PUNCH, a highly informed source within the NEC said, “Yes, it has been called off”.

Asked for more details, the source said, “the president will release an official circular in the morning”.

Recall that the academic union embarked on a strike on Monday, February 14, 2022.
