Sanwo-Olu Emerges Chairman of South-West Governors‘ Forum
Eaglessightnews reports that Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has been unanimously elected as the Chairman of the South-West Governors’ Forum.
The election took place during a closed-door meeting of the governors in Lagos on Monday.
Governors in attendance included Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Ademola Adeleke (Osun), and Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti). The meeting marked a significant development in the region’s efforts to foster cooperation and collaboration among its member states.
Sanwo-Olu’s election follows the passing of former Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, who previously held the position. The new chairman’s leadership is expected to further strengthen the forum’s objectives and initiatives.
In addition to the election, the governors also discussed key issues affecting the region, including agriculture and economic development. They directed their respective Commissioners for Agriculture to develop a template to facilitate collaboration based on each state’s comparative advantage.
