OYOWMA Chairman Biiro Tasks Contractors to Intensify Cleanliness Ahead of Olubadan Coronation, Rwanda Match, PDP Convention
The Chairman of Oyo State Waste Management Authority (OYOWMA), Hon. Waheed Akanbi Biiro, has urged private refuse contractors, also known as Private Sector Participants (PSP), to intensify efforts in ensuring a cleaner Ibadan ahead of major events in the state.
Eagles Sight News reports that this directive comes during a critical meeting with the stakeholders and Private Sector Participants, and after the agency officially took over its statutory duties and fully commenced operations.
Hon. Biiro noted that the coronation of the 44th Olubadan, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, scheduled for Friday, September 26, and the Nigeria–Rwanda Falconets match on Saturday, September 27, require Ibadan to be at its cleanest.
“Cleanliness is next to godliness. The major programmes that are coming, our agency has a key role to play, and that is cleanliness,” he said.
The OYOWMA boss further disclosed that Ibadan will also be hosting the PDP National Convention from November 15 to 16, with Governor Seyi Makinde anchoring the event. He stressed that waste management has a major role to play in ensuring the success of the programme, noting that “since it is a programme of the Governor, all hands must be on deck and the agency must be working effectively.
