1. The Labour Party, LP, leadership crisis escalated further yesterday with the Julius Abure and Lamidi Apapa groups holding separate National Working Committee (NWC) meetings in Abuja and Bauchi. At the Abuja meeting, the Abure group warned that any elected member of the LP found to be in support of Apapa risked having his seat declared vacant

2. The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress failed to take a decision on the zoning of the senate presidency and speakership of the 10th National Assembly during its meeting in Abuja on Wednesday. The four-hour meeting, which started at about 1 pm, was presided over by Adamu with no fewer than 18 of the 24-member NWC in attendance.

3.President Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday, in Abuja, launched the Nigeria Agenda 2050, declaring that its implementation would “ensure that Nigeria attains a per capita GDP of $33,328 per annum to place her among the top middle-income economies globally by 2050.”’

4. The first batch of Nigerians returning from Sudan has arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja. The 376 returnees, who took off from Aswan, Egypt, after a tumultuous journey crossing the border, were on Wednesday airlifted by the Nigerian Air Force on the NAF C-130H aircraft and Air Peace at about 4 pm.

5.The Federal Government of Nigeria, on Wednesday, in Abuja, said the agitations of the Senate cannot halt the planned demolition of offices belonging to aviation agencies at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos. The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, made the FG’s stance known after this week’s Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by president Muhammadu Buhari at the State House, Abuja.

6. Authorities of the Imo State University, Owerri, have suspended a lecturer, Desmond Izunwanne, for allegedly slapping one of his female students who reportedly arrived for a lecture late and for not attending the class in the departmental uniform.

7.President-elect, Bola Tinubu has tactically rejected the request by Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State for refund of some road projects executed by his administration, saying he owes the governor nothing. Wike had requested that when Tinubu gets into office, the federal government should refund the money expended on construction of federal roads by the state government.

8. President Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday, left Nigeria for London, United Kingdom to join other world leaders for the coronation of Charles III and his wife, Camilla, as His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort of the United Kingdom, respectively.

President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu yesterday said after his inauguration on May 29, his administration would ensure legacy projects in all parts of the country. He ruled out the marginalisation of any zone, assuring that he would work with every component unit for public good.

10. The Senate yesterday joined prominent Nigerians and parliamentary institutions in the plea for clemency to former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu and his wife Beatrice. It urged the United Kingdom (UK) Government to grant clemency to the couple as they return tomorrow to an Old Bailey Court for sentencing.
