INFERNO ENGULFS CHRIS OYAKHILOME’S CHRIST EMBASSY CHURCH HEADQUARTERS: MILLIONS OF DOLLARS LOST IN DEADLY BLAZE

A devastating fire has razed the headquarters of Christ Embassy Church, located in the Oregun area of Ikeja, Lagos State, leaving a trail of destruction and shock in its wake.

According to eyewitnesses, the inferno broke out in the early hours of Sunday morning, engulfing the massive edifice and causing significant damage to the church property.

Multiple videos on social media platforms showed the church’s auditorium being consumed by the raging fire, sending shock waves throughout the immediate community and beyond.

Officials of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service were quickly deployed to the scene to extinguish the fire, while police officers cordoned off the area to prevent a breakdown of law and order.

In a statement, the Director of the Lagos State Fire Rescue Service, Margaret Abimbola Adeseye, confirmed that the fire was reported at 07:27 and firefighting units from Alausa and Ikeja fire stations were promptly dispatched and arrived at the scene by 07:36 hours.

“The church auditorium was found to be engulfed in flames. The fire is currently under control. In addition, the excavator is being used to pull down some parts of the building to ensure complete extinguishment and to prevent further structural collapse,” Adeseye said.

She added that the cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and investigations are underway to ascertain its origin. No casualties have been reported at this time.

The church, which is headed by influential pastor Chris Oyakhilome, is one of the largest and most popular churches in Nigeria, with millions of followers worldwide.

The incident has raised questions about the safety of religious buildings in Nigeria and the measures in place to prevent and respond to such disasters.
