Makinde to Sign ₦892bn 2026 Budget into Law on Monday

Oyo State governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, will sign the 2026 Appropriation Bill into law on Monday, December 22, 2025. The budget signing ceremony, which will be held at the Executive Council Chambers of the Governor’s Office by 10:30 a.m., comes after the Oyo State House of Assembly passed the bill into law last week following a meticulous consideration.

Recall that the governor presented the 2026 Budget proposal, christened the Budget of Economic Expansion, to the Assembly on November 24, 2025, with a total estimate of ₦891,985,074,480.79. He stated that the 2026 Budget aims to build on the foundation of stability to drive productivity and inclusive growth.
Expected at the signing ceremony are the Deputy Governor, Barr. Abdulraheem Bayo Lawal; Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin; and the Chief Judge of Oyo State, Justice Iyabo Yerima.

Other dignitaries expected are former Deputy Governors—Engr. Hamid Gbadamosi, Alhaji Hazeem Gbolarumi, and Ambassador Taofeek Oladejo Arapaja; Chief Mrs. Mutiat Ladoja; former Speaker, Senator Monsurat Sunmonu; the Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly; and the Chairman and Members of the Appropriation Committee.

Also billed to attend are the chairman and co-chairman of the Oyo State Elders’ Council; the chairman of the Oyo State Advisory Council; the Oyo State PDP Chairman; the Chairman of Oyo State Local Government Chairmen; Labour Union leaders; as well as selected religious leaders and Royal Fathers, among others.
