Nigerians Face Power Disruption as TCN Begins 25-Day Maintenance

Nigerians and businesses who reside in  Lagos State have been alerted to prepare for potential electricity disruptions as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) begins a major maintenance operation on Monday, July 28, 2025.The maintenance exercise, which will be carried out on the Omotosho–Ikeja West 330kV transmission line, is scheduled to last for 25 days and will run daily between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., concluding on Thursday, August 21.

This announcement was made by TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, in a public statement released via the company’s official X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday, July 27. Eagles Sight News reports.

According to the statement, the maintenance project is expected to result in temporary load shedding and potential outages in certain areas of Lagos and its environs, although specific locations were not identified.

The transmission line undergoing repairs is a crucial supply route that feeds electricity to key parts of the state. As a result, the maintenance period may pose challenges to electricity stability and availability for both residential and commercial users.
