Odidiomo Seeks PDP Unity After Court Verdict, Backs Makinde

The lawmaker representing Ibadan North-west/Ibadan South-west federal constituency of Oyo state in the House of Representatives, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide, on Friday observed the congregational Jumat prayer at the Alhaja Hamdalah Jadesola Sunmonu Central Mosque (Iya Mui) in Oyo town, where he called for unity within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following the court judgement concerning the party’s November 2025 national convention.

Olajide, who, according to a statement by his Special Adviser, Media and Public Affairs, Tolu Mustapha, was received by muslim leaders and community stakeholders, used the occasion to admonish the muslim ummah on the spiritual significance of jumat, as a time for renewal, discipline and collective responsibility.

Shortly after the prayers, the federal lawmaker paid a courtesy visit to a member of the Oyo state Governor’s advisory council Sen. Monsurat Sunmonu, commending her for what he described as uncommon leadership and influence in Oyo state politics.

Olajide, while reacting to the court judgement delivered earlier in the day regarding the November 2025 PDP national convention held in Ibadan, expressed confidence that the decision would ultimately strengthen internal democracy within the party.

According to him, while legal processes are integral to democratic practice, party members must remain focused on reconciliation, unity and repositioning the PDP for greater national relevance.

“Democracy thrives on lawful processes. Whatever the outcome of legal engagements, what is important is that we move forward stronger and more united. Better days lie ahead for the PDP,” Olajide stated.

He urged party faithful to close ranks and work towards consolidating the PDP’s structures at all levels, reiterating that cohesion remains critical to electoral success and effective governance.

Olajide also commended Senator Sunmonu for “holding forth with dignity and maturity” in Oyo state politics, noting that her experience and guidance continue to provide direction for younger political actors.

“Distinguished Senator Monsurat Sunmonu represents stability and wisdom in our political landscape. Her contributions to democratic growth in Oyo state remain invaluable,” he said.

The lawmaker further called on residents of Oyo town to sustain their support for the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde, describing the governor’s leadership as focused on infrastructural renewal, institutional reforms and inclusive development.
He assured the people of Oyo town that the dividends of democracy would continue to reach them through sustained legislative efforts and collaboration with the state government.
“Our people deserve meaningful development, improved infrastructure and expanded opportunities. We remain committed to ensuring that Oyo town benefits fully from ongoing governance initiatives at both state and federal levels,” Olajide said.
