Yoruba Actress Ajara Lasisi, Popularly Known as Aunty Ajara, Dies

The Nigerian film industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of Yoruba actress Ajara Lasisi, widely recognised by fans as Aunty Ajara. Eagles Sight News reports
Her passing was confirmed by family members, who disclosed that she died in the early hours of Thursday.
Her brother, Ridwan Lasisi, made the announcement in an online video, where he appreciated the overwhelming support the family received from colleagues, fans, and well-wishers throughout the period of her illness. He also urged members of the public to discontinue financial donations earlier solicited for her treatment.
“Good morning to you all. My name is Ridwan Lasisi. I am a brother to Ajara. The doctor confirmed to us this morning that Ajara has passed on,” he said.
“All the families, we are using this period to appreciate you all. We appreciate the president and all industry members.
“We also use this opportunity to appeal to those sending money not to send it anymore.
The one we are contributing for her sake is no more. Thank you so much. We do not want you to send money into that account again.”
Reports about the actress’ health surfaced recently after fellow Nollywood star Ronke Oshodi-Oke publicly sought assistance on her behalf. She revealed that Lasisi had been admitted to the hospital in a critical state and was reliant on oxygen support.
Despite intensive medical attention and significant financial demands for her care, her condition reportedly worsened before her death.
