The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) internal results, announcing that 60.26 percent of candidates secured five credits and above, including Mathematics and English. Eagles Sight News has gathered.

Speaking at the Council’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State, on Wednesday, the Registrar and Chief Executive, Dantani Wushishi, disclosed that 1,367,210 candidates registered for the exam, with 1,358,339 sitting for it.

According to him, 818,492 candidates, representing 60.26 percent, achieved five credits and above, including English and Mathematics, while 1,144,496 candidates, or 84.26 percent, obtained five credits and above without considering the two core subjects. Wushishi described the results as a milestone that showcased transparency, credibility, and NECO’s commitment to educational standards.

He further revealed that 1,622 candidates with special needs participated, comprising those with hearing and visual impairments, albinism, autism, low vision, and other conditions.

On malpractice, the registrar highlighted a 61.58 percent reduction, with 3,878 cases recorded in 2025, compared to 10,094 in 2024. However, he noted that 38 schools across 13 states were involved in mass cheating and would face sanctions.

Additionally, nine supervisors from Rivers, Niger, the FCT, Kano, and Osun states are to be blacklisted for aiding malpractice and other misconduct.

Wushishi also announced that results from eight schools in Lamorde Local Government Area of Adamawa State were withheld following disruptions caused by communal clashes.

He expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and the Federal Ministry of Education for supporting NECO’s reforms and appealed to tertiary institutions to await the release of all examination bodies’ results before finalising admission processes.
