Oyo Lawmaker, Comforter Honors Fallen Armed Forces Heroes at 2026 Remembrance Grand Finale
The lawmaker representing Ibadan North Constituency1 and Oyo Assembly Chairman of the House Committee on Women Affairs and Community Development, has said that the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen Armed Forces heroes remain a timeless reminder that the freedoms enjoyed today were purchased at great cost.
Hon Comforter made this statement known to the press following the grand finale of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Celebrations, held at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, a
solemn and dignified programme, organized by the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, provided a moment of deep reflection, gratitude, and national pride as the state paid tribute to gallant men and women who laid down their lives in defence of Nigeria’s unity, peace, and sovereignty.
The ceremony also created an opportunity to remember the families of the fallen heroes, whose resilience and sacrifices continue to inspire the nation. Prayers were offered for the repose of the souls of the departed and for continued strength, protection, and divine guidance for serving military personnel across the country.
The event was graced by the presence of the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, FNSE, ably supported by his Deputy, His Excellency, Barr. Bayo Lawal.
Also present was the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, who was ably represented by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Mohammed Fadeyi, and who led distinguished Honourable Members of the 10th Oyo State House of Assembly to the programme.
The attendance was further enriched by other top government functionaries, senior military officials, traditional rulers, and distinguished dignitaries from across Oyo State.
Hon. Dr. Olufunke Comforter Adeniyi-Olajide reaffirmed that Oyo State remains committed to upholding the core values of service, sacrifice, patriotism, and unity for which the fallen heroes stood, noting that their noble sacrifices will never be forgotten.
