He Lived for Humanity’ — Odidiomo Honours Late Father at Second Remembrance

Family members, friends and associates on sunday gathered in Ibadan to commemorate the second anniversary of the passing of Alhaji Abdullateef Akin-Tokunbo Olajide, who died on April 12, 2024.

The remembrance was marked with a prayer session held at the Lateef Akin-Tokunbo Olajide central mosque, Anfani, Ibadan, where Islamic clerics led supplications for the repose of the soul of the deceased father of Hon m Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide, member House of Representatives.

Speaking during the programme, Olajide Odidiomo, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial aspirant for the 2027 election, described his late father as a friend, confidant and a man genuinely committed to the well being of others.

Recounting a personal experience, he said, “One fond memory I have of my father is that whenever I informed him I was on my way to Ibadan, he would call people around to wait for my arrival. Once I got in, he would tell me, ‘They are here because of you, attend to them, give them what you brought for them, you cannot afford to keep them waiting.’
“At that time, I did not fully understand his motive, but today I appreciate the depth of what he was doing. His life was about making people happy. His life was about service to humanity.”

He noted that the values instilled by his father continue to guide his personal life and public service, adding that the family remains committed to preserving his legacy.

Prayers were offered for the family, with clerics urging them to remain steadfast and continue in the path of good deeds exemplified by the deceased.

The event attracted a cross section of community leaders, political associates and well wishers who gathered to honour the memory of the late patriarch.
