“Don’t Replay 2023 Disaster” — Adeleke Warns Over Alleged Oyo Central Aspirant AWA Disqualification

‘Don’t Replay 2023 Disaster’ – Ex Council Chair, Adeleke Warns Party Leaders Over Alleged Disqualification of Oyo Central Aspirant, AWA

A former Chairman of the Oluyole Local Government, Hon. James Adeleke, has fiercely debunked rumors concerning the alleged disqualification of Oyo Central senatorial aspirant, Mr. Ademola Wasiu Alli, warning that such a move could plunge the party into severe disarray ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Addressing journalists on Sunday, Adeleke clarified that Alli is still very much in the race. He criticized the purported disqualification, noting that discarding an aspirant of Alli’s caliber without providing a cogent reason or a fair hearing is unprecedented and unacceptable.
”Mr. Alli is not stepping down.. “We are calling on national leaders of the party to swing into action and look at the situation in Oyo State. Disqualifying someone without giving them space to defend themselves will only put the party in chaos.” Adeleke declared.
Adeleke directed strong words at the incumbent senator, urging him to embrace internal democracy rather than using his proximity to national leaders to intimidate opponents.
”If the incumbent senator feels he has done extremely well, he shouldn’t be afraid of participating in a direct primary,” Adeleke stated, flashing back to similar political maneuvering in 2023 that heavily cost the party.
Adeleke completely ruled out the possibility of a consensus candidate for the Oyo Central senatorial district, insisting that only a transparent, direct primary election would guarantee a level playing ground, justice, and lasting peace.
”Leaders of the party must come together and rescue Oyo State.. Let everybody go to the primary. Whoever wins should emerge through due process, and whoever loses can wait for another time.” He urged.
