The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ibarapa-East Local Government Chapter, has endorsed the candidate of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) for Oyo South Senatorial District, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide Odidiomo, alongside the presidential ambition of Governor Seyi Makinde and the governorship bid of Honourable Bimbo Adekanmbi ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement took place on Saturday at the First Baptist Church, Anko, Eruwa, during the second day of Odidiomo’s political tour across the Ibarapa zone.

Speaking on behalf of the Christian body, Canon Babatunde said the Christian community had taken note of the developmental initiatives undertaken by Hon. Olajide Odidiomo across Ibarapaland, expressing optimism that he would deliver greater legislative impact if elected to represent the district in the Senate.

He also acknowledged the developmental efforts of the current Oyo State administration, stating that the Christian community had resolved to support the Odidiomo, Adekanmbi and Makinde ticket.

“Charity begins at home; all of us here are living witnesses to the great effort put into the development of Oyo State by the present government, and we are quite optimistic that the future is even brighter with this dedicated team,” Canon Babatunde stated.

He further assured that Christian leaders in Ibarapa-East would sustain their prayers and grassroots mobilisation efforts in support of good governance across Oyo State and Nigeria.

In his response, Hon. Adedeji Olajide Odidiomo expressed appreciation to the Christian body for the endorsement, pledging continued commitment to human capital development, youth empowerment and equitable infrastructural distribution across the Ibarapa region.

The federal lawmaker, who currently represents Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, assured the religious leaders that his proposed senatorial representation would be guided by inclusivity, transparency and accountability.

He also outlined key areas of legislative focus for the agrarian communities, including rural security, access roads, water schemes and direct federal funding for local economic development initiatives.

Earlier during the tour, Odidiomo and his entourage paid a royal homage to the palace of the traditional ruler of Eruwa, His Royal Majesty, Oba Samuel Adebayo Adegbola, the Eleruwa of Eruwa, and his chiefs-in-council.

Addressing the monarch, the APM senatorial candidate presented his vision for Oyo South Senatorial District and sought the royal father’s blessings and guidance.

In his response, Oba Samuel Adebayo Adegbola commended Odidiomo for his constituency interventions and philanthropic activities across the state. The monarch also offered royal blessings for his 2027 senatorial ambition, urging him to remain committed to promoting peace, unity and the overall development of Eruwa and Ibarapaland.
