Lawmaker Hon Akintayo Strengthens Grassroots Healthcare, Donates Medical Supplies To 16 PHCs In Oluyole

The member representing Oluyole State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Waheed Akintayo, popularly known as Ilumoka Presenter, has donated medical supplies, patient record books, maternity cards and essential drugs to 16 Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across Oluyole Local Government Area.
The intervention, which underscores the lawmaker’s commitment to improving healthcare delivery at the grassroots, was held at a symbolic presentation at Adaramagbo Primary Healthcare Centre, Olomi Academy, Ibadan.
The donated materials are expected to strengthen healthcare services, improve medical record-keeping and support maternal and child healthcare delivery across the beneficiary facilities.
Speaking at the event, the Oluyole Local Government Health Coordinator, Dr. Mudashiru Akanni, described the gesture as a significant intervention aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of residents.
He, however, expressed concern over the low utilisation of Primary Healthcare Centres by residents, describing the situation as a waste of government resources invested in providing healthcare facilities.
Dr. Akanni also lamented the low rate of immunisation in the local government, noting that Oluyole was among the areas recording concerning immunisation figures.
He urged residents to make adequate use of available PHCs and ensure that their children receive routine immunisation to protect them against preventable diseases.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Oluyole Local Government and APM candidate for Oluyole Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, Hon. Akeem Olatunji, commended Akintayo for consistently prioritising the healthcare needs of his constituents.
He recalled that the lawmaker’s healthcare interventions began with the enrolment of 5,000 constituents in the Oyo State Health Insurance Scheme, alongside financial assistance for individuals requiring surgical operations.
Olatunji disclosed that the local government would replicate the initiative at the council level between December 2026 and January 2027.
He urged residents to support Akintayo’s political ambition and called for votes for APM candidates across Oyo State.
Also speaking, a former Oluyole Local Government Chairman and APM candidate for the December 2026 local government election in Oyo State, Hon. Olaide Popoola, described Akintayo’s interventions as a legacy-building effort directed at supporting vulnerable members of society.
Popoola stressed the importance of strengthening primary healthcare facilities, particularly because of their critical role in providing essential medical services to women and children.
He commended the lawmaker for extending support to grassroots healthcare delivery, describing the initiative as worthy of recognition.
In their separate goodwill messages, the former PDP Chairman in Oluyole, the Baale of Adaramagbo and the Oluyole Community Development Council (CDC) Chairman commended Akintayo for his consistent contributions to the health sector.
They noted that the latest intervention was not his first healthcare-related initiative in the constituency, adding that his efforts were complementing the Oyo State Government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery across its 351 Primary Healthcare Centres.
Earlier, Hon. Waheed Akintayo, while addressing stakeholders and beneficiaries, reaffirmed his commitment to improving healthcare services and delivering more dividends of democracy to the people of Oluyole.
He explained that the provision of medical case notes and other record books would assist healthcare workers in maintaining accurate patient records, monitoring medical histories and improving the quality of treatment given to residents.
The lawmaker also promised to sponsor more people-oriented bills and motions if re-elected, assuring constituents of his continued commitment to their welfare and development.
