Oyo Police Dismiss Curfew Reports In Ibadan

The Oyo State Police Command has refuted claims alleging that a curfew or restriction of movement has been declared in Ibadan and other areas of the state.
In a statement released on Saturday, the Command described the reports making the rounds in some quarters as false and misleading, while reassuring residents that there is no security threat that should cause panic or concern.
The Command clarified that movement of people and vehicles within Ibadan and across the state remains free and unhindered, urging residents to go about their lawful activities without fear.
According to the police, sufficient security arrangements have been put in place throughout the state, with officers and other security personnel strategically positioned to protect lives and property.
The police further cautioned individuals and groups against spreading rumours, false information, or unverified security alerts capable of creating unnecessary panic and emotional tension among residents. The Command emphasized that anyone found culpable would be investigated and prosecuted in line with the law.
Residents were also encouraged to depend only on verified information issued through the office of the Police Public Relations Officer and the official communication channels of the Command whenever there is any security advisory or emergency directive.
The Command, however, appealed to members of the public to remain peaceful, vigilant, and continue supporting security agencies in maintaining peace and order across Oyo State.
