Nigerian-Canadian entrepreneur and philanthropist, Prince Akeem Owoade, has been officially appointed as the new Alaafin of Oyo. Eagles Sight News earlier reported
This announcement was made by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, through the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade.
Prince Owoade boasts an impressive background as a Nigerian and Canadian entrepreneur, philanthropist, and president of 100279 Manitoba Limited. His company specializes in real estate investment and financial services in Manitoba, Canada.
Born into a prominent royal family, Owoade-Agunloye, in Oyo town, Prince Owoade is one of the surviving children of Pa Rasaki Ibiyosi Owoade. His family lineage traces back to Aremo Aderounmu Iyanda Owoade from the Agure Compound in Oyo town.
Prince Owoade’s educational journey began at Baptist High School in Saki, Oyo State, Nigeria, where he completed his secondary school education in 1992.
His father played a significant role in the Oke-Ogun community, working for the Oyo North Agricultural Development Programme to boost agricultural productivity.
Prince Owoade’s interest in engineering led him to pursue his National Diploma and Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. He attended The Federal Polytechnic in Ilaro, Ogun State, from 1994 to 1997, and later The Polytechnic in Ibadan, Oyo State, from 1999 to 2001.
He completed his national youth service with Nigeria Gas Company as a Mechanical Intern/Planner in 2002. Following his NYSC, Prince Owoade worked with Oceanic Bank International Plc. in Warri, Delta State, as a teller from 2003 to 2004.
Prince Owoade furthered his education in the United Kingdom, attending the University of Sunderland in 2008 and Northumbria University in 2012. He earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering, respectively.
In addition to his academic achievements, Prince Owoade became certified in Project Management in June 2015, earning his PMP certification.
The Owoade-Agunloye family selected Prince Owoade as their preferred candidate to represent the family in the Alaafin of Oyo race.
Prior to his appointment, Prince Owoade worked as a Planning Engineer at Oil Reach Company in Glasgow, United Kingdom. He later relocated to Canada for greater opportunities.
In Canada, Prince Owoade held the position of Project Coordinator at Manitoba Hydro, one of the largest electric power and natural gas utility providers in Canada.
Prince Owoade’s appointment as the new Alaafin of Oyo marks a significant milestone in his illustrious career, and he is poised to make a positive impact in his new role.
