Odidiomo Blasts Alleged Impeachment Plot Against Seyi Makinde, Demands Probe and Accountability

A member of the House of Representatives representing Ibadan North-west/Ibadan South-west federal constituency of Oyo state, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide, has strongly condemned the alleged impeachment plot against Oyo state Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, describing it as a dangerous development capable of undermining the peace of the state.

In a statement made available to newsmen by his Special Adviser, Media and Public Affairs, Tolu Mustapha, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker expressed concern over what he described as a leaked plot allegedly involving highly placed individuals.

It will be recalled that reports of an alleged move to impeach Governor Makinde recently spread like wildfire across the state, triggering widespread reactions among political stakeholders and residents.

Olajide Odidiomo, said such allegations must not be treated with levity, warning that any attempt to undermine a duly elected government constitutes an affront to democratic governance.

He called for vigilance and a concerted effort by all well meaning stakeholders to resist any sinister move capable of disrupting the peaceful atmosphere and developmental strides currently being witnessed in the state.

“Such allegations must not be treated with kid gloves. Any act of disloyalty capable of destabilizing the state must be thoroughly investigated and treated as a crime against the state,” he said.

The lawmaker further insisted that individuals found to be involved in the alleged plot should be brought to book without delay, stressing that accountability is essential in preserving democratic institutions.

Olajide maintained that the Makinde administration has remained focused on delivering dividends of democracy to the people, urging residents to remain calm, law abiding and supportive of the government.
