World Teachers’ Day: Hon. Comforter Commends Teachers’ for Shaping Future Generation

Hon. Dr. Chief Mrs. Olufunke Comforter Adeniyi-Olajide JP, Member, Oyo State House of Assembly, representing Ibadan North State Constituency I, has commended teachers across Nigeria, Oyo State and Ibadan North for their sacrifices, dedication and commitment to educating and shaping future generations.
Hon. Comforter gave the commendation in a message made available to Journalists through her media team to mark the 2026 World Teachers’ Day, observed annually to recognize the contributions of teachers to education and society.
In her message , the lawmaker described teachers as important builders of society, noting that their responsibilities extend beyond classroom teaching to include character development, mentoring, talent discovery and preparing young people for responsible citizenship.
The lawmaker said many teachers continue to discharge their duties despite the challenges associated with the profession, stressing that their commitment to ensuring that pupils and students acquire the knowledge and values required to succeed deserves greater recognition.
She called for improved support for teachers through better welfare, professional development and conducive working environments, saying such measures would strengthen the quality of education and enable teachers to perform their responsibilities more effectively.
According to her, the quality of a nation’s future is closely connected to the quality of education provided to its younger generation, making teachers indispensable to human capital development and national progress.
Hon. Comforter also acknowledged teachers serving in difficult circumstances, commending them for remaining committed to their pupils and students and for continuing to make a difference in the lives of young people.
She urged teachers to remain dedicated to their profession and continue to inspire their pupils and students through knowledge, discipline, compassion and positive example.
“To every teacher who wakes up each day to teach, guide, encourage and inspire our children, we celebrate you. Your patience, sacrifices and commitment are building the leaders, professionals and responsible citizens of tomorrow. You are not only teaching lessons; you are shaping lives and building the future,” she said.
Hon. Comforter extended her appreciation to school administrators, education stakeholders and others contributing to the development of education in Oyo State and Nigeria.
She wished teachers across the country a happy World Teachers’ Day and prayed for renewed strength, wisdom, fulfilment and greater recognition in the discharge of their duties.
