Govt Demolishes Building Used by Kidnappers of Adelabu’s Sister, Nephews

The Oyo State Government has demolished a three-bedroom bungalow in Lako Community, Ayegun-Anaye Road, Ibadan, which was allegedly used to hold the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Bayo Adelabu, and her twin sons during their abduction.

The demolition, carried out on Monday, was led by the Commissioner for Works and Transport, Architect Abdulmojeed Mogbonjubola, alongside operatives of the Nigeria Police Force and officials of the Ministry of Works and Transport.

According to the commissioner, the action forms part of the government’s efforts to combat kidnapping and other criminal activities across the state. He added that the land on which the building stood has also been revoked as part of measures to ensure public safety and strengthen security.

Mogbonjubola urged landlords, housing agents, and residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or criminal activities to the appropriate authorities.

Speaking earlier, the Vice Chairman of the Landlords Association, Ayegun-Lako Community, Mr. Matthew Olaiya, disclosed that the occupant of the building had only recently rented the apartment. He noted that the tenant often returned home late at night and was frequently away for several days.
