Abducted Oyo School Principal Denies ₦1bn Ransom, Sharia Law Claims
The abducted Principal of Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle in Oyo State, Mrs. Rachael Alamu, has appealed to the public and media organizations to refrain from spreading unverified information regarding their captivity.
Speaking from captivity, Alamu described reports alleging that their abductors demanded a ₦1 billion ransom and the implementation of Sharia law across Nigeria as false and misleading.
According to her, after spending 24 days in captivity, neither she nor the other victims had been compelled to practice Islam or subjected to any form of religious pressure.
She explained that the abductors had not demanded money, weapons, or the introduction of Sharia law, but were instead requesting the release of some of their associates.
Alamu expressed concern that the circulation of inaccurate reports was complicating efforts aimed at securing their release.
The school principal also urged Nigerians not to politicize their ordeal, calling on the government to engage in dialogue with the abductors in order to better understand their demands and facilitate the safe release of all those still being held.
Her appeal comes amid growing public concern over the abduction and ongoing efforts by security agencies and stakeholders to secure the freedom of the victims.
