VIDEO: Obasanjo Finally Speaks Out on 3rd term Ambition, Exposes Real Sponsors

Nigeria’s former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has once again denied long-standing rumors that he attempted to secure a third term as the country’s democratic president. Eagle’s Sight News has gathered

Obasanjo, who served as both military head of state and civilian president from 1999 to 2007, clarified that he never intended to extend his tenure.

In an exclusive interview with News Central, Obasanjo stated that obtaining a third term would have been achievable if he had desired it. However, he emphasized that some state governors, who harbored similar ambitions, would have followed suit if he had pursued re-election.

Obasanjo’s administration prioritized securing debt relief for Nigeria, a feat that required diplomatic efforts with several countries, including France, the United Kingdom, Japan, and the United States ¹. He underscored that achieving debt relief was a more daunting task than seeking re-election.

According to Obasanjo, his focus on debt relief demonstrates his commitment to Nigeria’s economic development. “If I had wanted a third term, I would have got it. I didn’t want a third term. I know some governors who were working for this, believing that if I, as president, got a third, they would also get it.

“Getting debt relief is much more difficult than getting a third term. Getting a third term wouldn’t involve me going to France, America, Japan, Italy, and Germany to virtually beg,” Obasanjo stated.

Obasanjo’s leadership experience spans both military and civilian roles, providing him with a unique understanding of Nigeria’s governance challenges.

As President, Obasanjo played a key role in international diplomacy, including chairing the Group of 77, a coalition of developing countries ¹. His efforts aimed to promote global economic cooperation and address the challenges faced by developing nations.

Obasanjo’s commitment to Nigeria’s development is evident in his administration’s accomplishments, including debt relief and economic reforms.

The former President’s statements offer valuable insights into his leadership philosophy and priorities, highlighting the importance of economic development and international cooperation in Nigeria’s growth.
