His Excellency, Barr. Bayo Lawal, Deputy Governor of Oyo State, convened an emergency security meeting at the Irepo Local Government Secretariat with the Executive Chairmen of Oorelope, Irepo, and Olorunsogo local governments.

The three council leaders discussed security challenges affecting their areas in detail and reviewed reports from various security agencies. Hon. Jacob Oluwale Ogundiran, Executive Chairman of Oorelope Local Government, thanked Governor Engr. Seyi Abiodun Makinde and the Deputy Governor for their interventions. He called on the state government to recruit more vigilante personnel to reinforce existing security agencies. He also shared specific intelligence on security concerns along the Igboho to Igbeti and Kisi routes, which will be kept confidential for operational reasons.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police for Oyo State commended the local government chairmen for their continued support and assured residents of the Old Irepo federal constituency that the police will work closely with all security agencies to maintain safety across the state and within each local government.

The Deputy Governor assured the council members of the state government’s full backing and confirmed that steps are already being taken to strengthen security across the affected areas.

He stressed that community cooperation is key to effective security. Residents must support security agencies by providing timely and accurate information to help protect lives and property in their communities.

The meeting was attended by the Executive Assistant on Security to the Governor, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, the Commissioner for Establishment and Training, the Divisional Police Officers for Irepo and Olorunsogo, and representatives of the DSS, NDLEA, Operation Burst, Amotekun, Civil Defense, FRSC, Immigration Service, and local vigilante groups.
